You don’t need any dancing ability to enjoy the newly opened Hokey Pokey at the Westfield Century City. In New Zealand, hokey pokey is honeycomb toffee, not a dance. Hokey Pokey makes theirs in-house and then uses it as a topping for their soft serve ice cream.

To be honest, I wasn’t going to try Hokey Pokey, somewhat put off by their high prices ($8.50 for a single) and the couple I saw sitting outside, eating what looked like a Dixie cup serving of ice cream. Luckily, my daughter was curious and ordered a half-size cone ($6). When I saw that her cone looked like a normal full-size portion, I immediately ordered one for myself.

I was glad I did. While she ordered the chocolate mousse topped with hokey pokey crunch, I chose to do the Hokey Pokey – vanilla ice cream blended with the toffee and topped with crumbs. It was delightful. The ice cream was rich and creamy, and the hokey pokey was a treat.
Hokey Pokey offers five flavors, all topped with their signature crunch. They charge the same price for cups and cones, and I would recommend choosing the cone, as it seemed like it was a more generous serving (I could be wrong). The half-size cone was the perfect size for one person. If you’re looking for non-dairy ice cream, Hokey Pokey offers that option at a slight uncharge (50 cents for the half and $1 for the full). They also have cloud bowls, which pair the ice cream with pavlova and berries, shakes, coffee and hot chocolate. Fancy an affogato? They can do that too. I never thought I’d say this but I’d be happy to do the Hokey Pokey in front of strangers any day of the week.
