Pop’s Bagels – Culver City

Looking for the best bagel in Los Angeles? Pop’s Bagels is definitely a contender – making the list of best bagels by New York Times, Eater LA, Los Angeles Magazine, The Infatuation, Timeout LA and many more. Owner Zach Liporace started making his New York-style bagels in his apartment before branching out to pop-ups and then making the leap to brick-and-mortar stores. The second one just opened in Culver City at the Culver Steps complex.

You can order at the counter or order online for pick up or delivery. While there is no dining area indoors, there is ample space outdoors, with several well-spaced tables and chairs. I placed my order online and my order was ready when I arrived.

You can order your bagel with a spread, including vegan options made with cashew cheese, or as a hot or cold sandwich. You can add tomato, onion, capers and pepper to your sandwich at no extra charge. I ordered the Nova Lox and the Smoked Whitefish Salad sandwiches, both served open-faced. The bagels had a nice chew and crispy exterior.

The Nova Lox was better than I expected, with silky luscious slices of salmon draped over the cream cheese. The bigger surprise was the Smoked Whitefish, which was a tad on the salty side, but delicious. I didn’t realize that I need more smoked whitefish in my life! I appreciated the eco-friendly packaging too!

With free one-hour parking underground (entrance off of Culver), Pop’s Bagels is worth a visit if your on the Westside!
