To have a great sandwich, you need good bread. At Potato Chips Deli, the ciabatta is definitely up to the task – sturdy enough to contain the ingredients without getting soggy, but just soft enough that your teeth don’t fight with the bread with every bite.
This sandwich shop opened their second location on Main Street in Culver City last month, during the pandemic – a brave move. Open for takeout and delivery, Potato Chips Deli also has some tables in front outside for dining.
Sandwiches range in price from $12 – $14. The turkey sandwich with roasted turkey breast, tomato, lettuce, havarti, herb aioli and balsamic had the perfect ratio of meat, vegetables and condiments. The herb aioli and balsamic elevated this turkey sandwich. Unlike the Italian bread over at Bay Cities, the ciabatta here is easy to chew and won’t cause jaw pain.
The Caprese was loaded with fresh creamy burrata, basil, tomato, oil and vinegar – a refreshing sandwich on a hot summer’s day. The contrast of fluffy burrata with the crunchiness of the bread made for an enjoyable eat.
I wish that the sandwiches came with a pickle, or better yet, a side of potato chips (though it’s better for me not to be eating those salty delights). If you want to add chips, they do have an extensive selection of Zapp’s and Utz’s Dirty Potato Chips from which to choose.
Their motto says, “Life is short, have a sandwich!” With sandwiches this good, I’ll have more than one.
