This Guisados location has its own parking lot, giving it a distinct advantage over its West Hollywood branch. With the pandemic, the ground is marked to indicate where people should stand in line to observe proper social distancing. Their covered open patio gives you the option to enjoy their tacos on the premises.
Guisados means “stew” in Spanish, and several of the tacos feature braised meats – chicken, steak and pork. There are also seafood options like shrimp and fish and several vegetarian fillings. Tacos are $3.25-$3.50 each.
I got the bistek en roja, camarones and mole poblano.
The bistek, simmered with red bell peppers and tomatoes, came with black beans and avocado, and reminded me of my dad’s beef stew. It was quite mild in terms of spice level, as was the mole poblano. The shrimp offered a bit more in terms of heat, but if you’re looking for spicy, stick to the tacos with the chili pepper next to them on the menu.
Guisados is a great option for those looking for reasonably priced Mexican in Beverly Hills. What it may lack in terms of glamor, it more than makes up for in food
