When I heard that 800 Degrees reopened in Westwood, I was overjoyed. It had been one of our faves for years, so when it closed, our quest for a replacement resulted in disappointment (sorry, Blaze and MOD). Surprisingly, the inside looked pretty much the same as before.
There were some changes, though. The menu had expanded to include their woodfired items like rotisserie chicken and sandwiches, which had been added to their other locations. Previously, as you entered the restaurant, you would order your pizza, adding ingredients as you moved through the line. Once you paid, your pizza went in the oven and was ready a few minutes later. Now, you line up at the cashier, place your order and then endure a much longer wait for your pizza. I preferred the previous method, but with the expanded menu, I guess it doesn’t make sense.
We visited days within the reopening. I attempted to order a sandwich and was told that they weren’t doing sandwiches. I pivoted to ordering a Bianca with porchetta and caramelized onions.
My pizza came luxuriously draped with thin slices of porchetta. It was like a dream come true except that the bottom of the pizza was slightly burnt, as were my husband’s and daughter’s. We’re troopers so we ate it anyway.
Our second visit went more smoothly. Sandwiches were available so I got the Pork Banh Mi.
It was served on bread from The Larder, with pickled veggies, jalapeños and mayo. While the bread wasn’t the traditional French baguette, it was pretty good and held up well with all the ingredients. Did I mention that my porchetta sandwich only cost $9? I was in hog heaven.
My family’s pizzas weren’t burnt this time, though my husband grumbled that his pizza was a little skimpy on toppings (which if you compare the two pics, there’s definitely less).
Arrive before 5pm at the Broxton garage, parking is free for 2 hours. I’m happy to see 800 Degrees back in Westwood. We’ll just have to learn to be a little more patient. It will build character.

I tried a Bianca with the porchetta on this site’s recommendation and was not the least bit disappointed. It is now my favorite 800 degrees pizza. On another trip I tried the rotisserie chicken. It was flavorful and moist, and I enjoyed it very much.
