If you’re in the Westside Pavilion food court and can’t stand the thought of another Panda Express meal, head over to Frida’s Tacos. Instead of eating food that has been sitting in a steam tray for an indeterminable amount of time, you’ll get your order freshly cooked.

Frida’s Tacos has the usual array of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas and salads. Burritos are decently sized, stuffed with your choice of meat, rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream and cheese. There’s also a breakfast burrito served all day, stuffed with eggs, bacon, cheese, guacamole and tomatoes.

If you want to try more than one filling, the Taco Combo gives you the choice of two topped with onions and cilantro, along with sides of rice and beans. I’m always a little hungry after eating this one, so choose the burrito if you’ve got a healthy appetite like me.

Tacos and burritos come with two different salsas – one red that definitely has a kick and a mild green one. If you’ve got a pesco-vegetarian, there’s a sautéed vegetable filling, as well as fish and shrimp tacos. For those avoiding carbs, Frida’s offer lettuce wrap tacos.

I appreciate the freshness of the food, no shriveled up meats or veggies here, and that it seems like a healthier alternative to the deep-fried sweet entrees over at Panda Express. You will have to wait a little longer to get your food – so if you’re with someone who wants Panda Express, place your order at Frida’s Tacos and then wait in line at with them over at Panda. By the time you’ve made it through the line, your order will be done.
