Yelp saved my life…well, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. We were in the Inner Richmond, trying to choose one of the many Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood and after walking up and down the street, we found one that looked popular. However, when we looked it up on Yelp, a page came up about its poor sanitary conditions (this was after we had checked reviews of other Chinese restaurants to see complaints about cleanliness, including one involving a rat on a chair). Somewhat shaken, we started our search over, this time looking for a Thai restaurant which led us to Thai Time.

If not for Yelp, we would never have found it. Thai Time, on one of the side streets off Clement, was hidden behind scaffolding, with no easily seen signage. The tiny restaurant only had about seven tables, and we managed to snag the last open table. Even though it was a Sunday night, a traditionally slow night for restaurants, there was always a group or two waiting outside for a table.
Even though the dining area is small, it seemed nice and cozy on a cold night. We ordered three dishes – a vegetarian pad see-ew with tofu, pad thai and seafood curry. All were tasty and satisfying. They were particularly generous with the seafood in the curry, a huge plus.
Thai Time has lunch specials, all well under $10, a total bargain for San Francisco. The clock in the restaurant wasn’t working, leading us to joke that Thai Time was 10:15. With reasonable prices, generous portions and good food, it’s always Thai Time.
