The $20 a pint Strawberry Shortcake @antico___la made with strawberries from @harrysberries. I thought people were insane for paying that much for a pint of ice cream. I had seen someone post that they got the last pint the day before and was almost relieved to order the relatively cheap $14 Honeycomb ice cream pint (I kid - it’s still $$$$). When I picked up my order, I figured I should ask if they had any more of the Strawberry Shortcake, especially since I was unlikely to ever go there again. When I was told there was one more left, I felt like I won the lottery and was excited to have the opportunity to spend $20 for that pint. I am now convinced that they tell all their customers that to lessen the blow. Was it worth it? It’s got a strong strawberry flavor but still creamy, with a slight tang of buttermilk and chunks of cake. If our family of three gets ice cream at a shop, it would cost about the same. It’s so rich that we’ve managed to milk it for two servings for each of us, and there’s still some left in the container. If I return to Antico, it will be for their superlative ice cream, not their pizza. LOL. Just kidding. Their pizza is a steal by comparison. Cheese focaccia pizza @antico___la - recommended by @bill_addison @latimesfood as one of his faves for Italian during the quarantine. This $25 pizza has eight hearty slices, with enough leftover for another meal for my fam. Antico is famous for their ice cream, especially their strawberry shortcake which is $20 a pint (more on that in another post)! They are open for takeout and delivery, though they recommend takeout so you can get your pizza straight out of the oven. Large 18” pizza @lamonicasnypizza @westwoodvillage for only $11 after 6pm and all day Sunday. It’s one of my fave cheap eats in LA. (Toppings are an extra $3.50 each.) Lamonica’s is open for takeout and delivery. I often get questions as to why my pizza looks so strange. It’s because my daughter will only eat cheese pizza, so there’s only toppings on one half of the pizza. It may be Taco Tuesday but we got burritos @tacostumadre in Westwood. I prefer their burritos because they are stuffed! This was my first time trying their cochinita pibil burrito, which had plantains and was filled with that slow-roasted pork from top to bottom. Plus, it’s less than $10! Also got the grilled fish burrito - always a solid choice. Love that I can walk here and get a little bit of exercise before stuffing my face!
