Yama Sushi Sake Attitude – Mar Vista

Life is too short to be eating trashy supermarket sushi. Luckily for those of us on the Westside, San Gabriel’s Yama Seafood opened a new location in Mar Vista, Yama Sushi Sake Attitude, so you can eat fresh fish at trashy supermarket sushi prices (or even lower)

Not in the mood for fish? They have dishes from their brands Sushi With Attitude and Vegan With Attitude, like katsu (both chicken and mushroom) and avocado rolls, as well as various Japanese snacks.

Their cut rolls are reasonably priced with salmon/avocado or spicy tuna for only $6.95. On another visit, they even had a spicy scallop roll.

Yama is known for their big California rolls, with an extra creamy filling.

As an opening special, they had a 21-piece sashimi plate for the bargain price of $12.95. Everything was super fresh and melted in my mouth.

The chicken katsu from Sushi with Attitude was delicious. I did have to reheat it in the oven, but each piece was still juicy, with a nice crispy panko-encrusted exterior.

There’s a fish counter from which you can select your fish and they will slice it for you. Yama is a terrific alternative to buying sushi from the market. With fish this good and at these impossibly low prices, there’s no reason to get mediocre sushi from the market. Life’s too short.
