CVTeeny proves that size doesn’t matter. Last weekend, food truck CVT Soft Serve unveiled a smaller version of their soft serve truck at a permanent location in the Espresso Profeta in Westwood.
Unlike the eye-catching trucks, CVTeeny is hard to spot. You wouldn’t even know it was there, except for this tiny sign outside…
There’s no sign of CVTeeny inside (trust me, I looked), except for the menu posted on the wall.
We were here on the day after their grand opening. When I placed my order, the guy at the counter looked at the other guy and said, “And so it begins.” He then disappeared down the hallway for a couple of minutes.
He then emerged, holding two cups of soft serve. After a quick round of picture taking (though my family will tell you it wasn’t that fast), my daughter eagerly dug in. “Ohhhhh,” she ecstatically moaned, “This is soooo much better than frozen yogurt.”
For some reason, they charge the same price for the regular “OG” cone as a waffle cone (not that I’m complaining and will cry if this causes the waffle cone price to increase). The choice was a no-brainer, and my soft serve was handed to me, piled high in a gorgeous waffle cone.
Yes, it was a million times better than frozen yogurt, creamy and delicious, without any of that artificial taste that you get with froyo. Even though the cone cost 50 cents more, it was well worth it because I got waaaaaay more ice cream than the cup. For once, I was the last one to finish.
Sure the prices might be slightly higher than at the truck, but you’ll never encounter the disappointment of having the trucks being closed for private events. Nor will you have to hunt down the trucks, only to find a gigantic line right before their closing time (as I did when they were at Fox Plaza). CVTeeny is open seven days a week from 12pm to 6pm for your eating pleasure. Just do it.
