The mini mall near the intersection of Bundy and Olympic Blvd represents a slice of America. There you’ll find a smorgasbord of cuisines – from Japanese to Greek, to Italian to American. At the last spot right next to the strip club lies Tacos Por Favor. As its location would suggest, Tacos Por Favor is a classic hole-in-the wall, serving Mexican food at bargain prices.
While new taquerias charge $4-5 for a taco, Tacos Por Favor is definitely old school, with most tacos less than $3. This is a no frills restaurant, where you order at the counter. A tiny salsa bar – with a three salsas, pickled carrots and radishes – sits at the end of the counter. The dining atmosphere is a bit lacking – most customers taking their orders to go.
For those who may find Mexican food too challenging (aka my daughter), a cheese quesadilla is an easy solution.

There’s a fish burrito on the menu for a mere $8.50. The fish is grilled, not fried, in line with their goal to serve healthy food. Made with mahi mahi, the burrito contained lettuce, pico de gallo, rice and beans. The portion of fish was not very generous, but the pieces inside were a decent size.
The al pastor burrito came stuffed with rice, beans, salsa, cilantro and onions – a lot of onions. My first bite was all onions. I’d probably guess there was anywhere from 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup of onions. The al pastor meat was ok, not great. Like the mahi mahi burrito, the pork serving was a little on the chintzy side. Although since it only cost $6.85, it was probably unrealistic to expect more.
The food at Tacos Por Favor is fine, though it’ll be tough to beat their prices on the westside. If you’re hankering for a filling cheap meal that’s healthier than fast food, Tacos Por Favor may be just what you’re looking for.
