Watch your back, Shake Shack. There’s a new burger in town. Tipsy Cow has meandered into the Westfield Century City, serving free-range/hormone-free/antibiotic-free gourmet burgers, sandwiches and salads. As the name implies, they also serves beer and wine, with a happy hour every day from 3pm to 7pm.
With nine different burger/sandwiches on the menu, Tipsy Cow has something for everyone, from hardcore carnivores to vegans. The Mac Daddy is probably their most over-the-top burger, with macaroni and cheese, bacon and provolone.
Vegetarians have a couple of burger options – the Plant Based burger or Cali-Beanin’ (a quinoa and white bean patty). The Plant Based burger comes stacked with tomatoes, red onion, pickles, lettuce and American cheese with their tipsy sauce.
The patty does indeed taste meat-like, offering a burger experience with less guilt.
The turkey burger is stacked high with provolone, avocado, lettuce, roasted tomatoes and basil aioli. In fact, both burgers were so tall that they both tipped off to the side. I had to resort to eating it with a fork and knife to avoid any accidents. The patty was moist and the burger overall was delicious.
Tipsy Cow’s fries are of the skinny variety – though I didn’t get them on this visit but they looked promising. Their burgers seem healthier than the ones over at Shake Shack (in a good way), though maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part. With so many options, I’ll be back again and again, happily making my way through their menu. Sorry, Shake Shack.
Update: In May 2018, Tipsy Cow significantly scaled back their menu to just regular beef burgers, so the items listed above are no longer available. Bummer!
Update: As of September 2018, Tipsy Cow is closed. Their original location in Sherman Oaks remains open.
