TLT Food originally started as a humble food truck, but after winning the second season of Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race, they launched a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Westwood. TLT’s cross-cultural menu seeks inspiration from around the world, Greek lamb sliders to seared ahi tuna tacos.

We recently visited on Taco Tuesday and ordered a bunch of tacos. Each bite of the Ultimate Taco (carnitas, Cotija cheese, guacamole and pickled red onions, with an untraditional chipotle-honey aioli slaw) was a little sweet and spicy.

The Sweet & Spicy Steak Taco wasn’t very spicy, more sweet, topped with Asian slaw, fried wonton skin, chimichurri and sesame seeds – a nice melding of Asian and Latino flavors.

The Seared Ahi Tuna, the most expensive taco on the menu at $5, layered ahi, with a chipotle-honey slaw and aioli, lime-sambal sauce.

For vegan taco lovers, there’s a choice of the Mr. Potato or the Crispy Tofu with lime-sambal sauce, mango and black bean pico de gallo and chimichurri. The tofu was marinated and very flavorful, in spite of being tofu.
TLT serves alcohol, beer and wine, with an interesting selection of craft beers. On weekends, they offer brunch, including a delicious french toast and bottomless mimosas, from 11am to 3pm.
On Taco Tuesdays, all tacos are $3, including the $5 ahi taco – one of the best bargains in Westwood. While the food here may lack a definitive category (Eclectic? New American?), it can be summed up in one word. Delicious.
